Is everyone selling something?
As social media turns into one giant ad, I guess I felt guilty not joining in. Honestly, we’re all being forced into ‘gig economy’ jobs and looking for options. I started an Oregon themed t-shirt line a year ago and in typical Mark fashion, sort of got busy and stopped paying attention to it. It was so much work just to get started. I feel like 1 of 4 million artists trying to find a market for their work. Then I found out I’m 1 of 9 million artists doing this. But I admit that it’s fun. Fun to design the shirts, and play marketing department. It also lets me keep up on the social media platforms by creating focused posts. I’ve picked up a few smaller freelance jobs doing social media design work. But I enjoy developing new takes for my work. I just need to stay motivated because the world is a loud and busy place. Feeling worthless or too small to matter is a real threat. It can eat away at my desire to work on creative material. It takes a big helping of ignorance and naivety to do this job. I have both in spades.
